Education

Our teaching revolves around our expertise in the mechanics of solids and structures and includes Bachelor and Master/doctoral-level courses. At the Bachelor level, we teach Dynamics, a mandatory course in the third semester for Mechanical and Civil Engineers. We further offer Introduction to Finite Element Analysis as an undergraduate elective in which we introduce concepts of computational mechanics and the finite element method to interested students. We are further involved in experimental lab courses as well as the Swissloop focus project. At the Master level, we teach Multiscale Modeling, which provides an overview of scale-bridging techniques used in solid mechanics and materials science. Overall, we teach concepts and methods in theoretical, numerical and experimental mechanics.

Of course, we also offer numerous student projects such as Bachelor and Master theses as well as semester projects, and we support the Focus in Design, Mechanics & Materials for Bachelor students.
