Focus Area Mechanics

Bachelor students of Mechanical Engineering chose a Focus for their 5th/6th semester. One such option is Design, Mechanics and Materials in with lives at the cross-section of design and mechanics of materials and structures. The mechanics focus area specifically offers courses that aim at a deeper understanding and an extension of the concepts introduced in the first- and second-year mechanics courses (specifically, Mechanics 1+2, Dynamics, and Dimensionieren) towards continuum mechanics, computational methods, and more. Master's and Doctoral students also find a variety of courses in this focus area.

If you wish for Professor Kochmann to be your tutor for the Bachelor Focus in Design, Mechanics and Materials, please get in touch with him. He has tutored a number of students and will be happy to provide advice during your studies revolving around mechanics and materials. You may also be interested in a (non-exhaustive) list of current project offerings in our lab.

The following list gives a non-exhaustive overview of courses offered as electives in the different areas of mechanics. For more information and a complete overview (also including the areas of design and materials), visit the focus website.
