The development and use of experimental techniques, on the one hand, and computational tools, on the other hand, are essential ingredients of our research. Many of our challenges cannot be addressed by available off-the-shelve solutions, which is why we continuously improve upon existing techniques and develop our own solutions. Experimental techniques focus on the characterization of material behavior across length and time scales. Numerical codes revolve around computer simulations to understand and predict material behavior across various scales: from the physics atomic ensembles to engineering simulations of devices and parts on the large scale.
